Just a few questions. Can anyone remember "hating" a piece of music before knowing what music is deemed "cool" and what is not? Can someone remember the first time they hated a song or album more vividly than when they first loved or liked one? Can anyone here honestly remember the first artist they disliked? That can be a challenge for you. I don't think anyone here will remember the artist as much as the first artist they liked.

So.... maybe hating music isn't the right way to go about things? It is our most pleasurable experiences which stick with us to the end. We forget most of what we dislike and most people hold prejudices against the artists for it. They may be missing out on so much. Maybe we should try our least favorite albums again?

your logic is all over the place, but people ought to give music another chance every few years if they didn't like it the first time around. I grew up listening to punk, so I was bred to hate U2; I don't hate U2 now, and love the Edge's playing, but you still won't find anything of U2's on my charts. I currently hate Queen and Bjork. The Bjork hate has been with me since middle school, but is slowly fading; I can enjoy most of Debut, but the rest are unlistenable to me, partly because of the voice, mostly because I find the trip-hoppy production to contain the cheapest hooks I've heard. It irks me that something with such cheap hooks that has aged so quickly to my ears can be critically praised everywhere. Queen hate started in college for social reasons; I cannot count how many times I've been in a sing-along situation with Queen blasting in the car Wayne's World style and I fucking hate it. Queen's music was always mediocre to me, but the people who like Queen make me hate it; that hate will fade when people stop feeling the need to sing along to Queen in my presence.

Tried again. Still don't like them. Hate is unnecessary - I just avoid them.

Bjork! YES, that one! I didn't like her for a few years and can now appreciate some of her stuff more. See, there is progress moving forward people 😄 We'll have a good time with music

Agree with this all the way. This is why I keep giving rap a chance. I've never been able to hate any music forever, and I hope that's the case again.

the first time i heard nickelback i didn't know if they were popular or not 2 seconds before the song started but 10 seconds into it the top of my brain wanted to throw up and the bottom of my brain wanted to spew liquid shit at the same time and i knew they would be popular in the future if they weren't already because i have skills.

Whatever, you love Queen. Everyone does. Some people just don't realize it.

Anyway, on topic. I hate the Ramones. I give them a chance every now and then, but I hate them every time. I believe I will always hate the Ramones.

There have been a handful of artists that I never used to care for especially that eventually grew on me, but the only band I ever flat-out hated that I like now is Green Day (and every rap artist I like, but that's more because I used to disregard the genre entirely than because I actually hated them).

How You Remind Me was a year 6 anthem and even though I know I shouldn't, I still love it.

As for hating music, well not really, if I don't like it I don't put it on my iTunes and don't have to hear it. Some songs which get alot of play on the radio do irritate me but I'm not one of those boring sods who like to moan about this.

Yeah, I hated Nickelback and Creed almost immediately. Although, I think level of hatred increases with airplay and the amount you're exposed to certain artists.
