I thought I would make a thread where we can share artists that we found recently, today or tomorrow that we hadn't heard before.
Today I was listening to "Body of war: Songs that inspired an Iraq war veteran". A song called "War" by Dilated Peoples, a rap group, stood out to me. Anyway I looked up the artist on Spotify. I was hooked straight away, their brilliant! 😁 I'm listening to their album "20/20" which is extraordinary. Songs like "You Can't run, you can't hide" and "Alarm clock music" are standouts. I'll definitely buy a copy as soon as I can 😄
I just discovered Ani Difranco. I like her folk-ternative style, but on Emusic (where I try to buy my stuff if I can), she has TONS of stuff there, so I have no clue what to choose. 🙁 All I know is that I adored her Itunes Originals session in the 30-second previews that I listened to.
I like this thread, as this is what my chart was really aimed for to include albums, that I hadn't seen on this site
So any new artists that I would recommend? The Low Anthem heard them around March last year for the first time, the Culture Magazine (In The Times Newspaper) recommended them, so I listened to them and I was mesmerized, their music is so beautiful They are a folk band, so if you like folk music, I'd highly recommend
Also, at a Ray LaMontagne concert I went to in September they played support, and they swept me away with their music 😄
Well I didn't discover a new band or anything. But Black Sabbath's self titled debut is pretty righteous and I have been listening to it like crazy, thanks to 40footwolf's recommendation. _________________ And I stare at the sun.

I discovered a punk group called Agent Orange. They were around in the early '80s, they mixed surf-rock and hardcore and they were just generally really awesome. Check out the 1979 version of "Bloodstains" to hear them at their best, and the album Living In Darkness is basically wall to wall punk goodness. _________________ I love all music. I discovered XTC a couple weeks ago; got Drums and Wires, Skylarking, White Music, and English Settlement. All amazing, all pretty different from one another while maintaining their unique sound. They're like this: Talking Heads and Gang of Four had sex and had a baby that was incredibly intelligent yet could never possibly live up to its parents, probably like the Curies' children.
This band called, "Tame Impala." I don't have the privilage of posting urls or videos, so look up the song "Sundown Syndrome."
The voice reminds me of Lennon, and the music is somewhat psychedelic. Their first album comes out April 2010. Just watch these guys rocket to the top!

A pretty good comparison, but you're ignoring the debt they have to Beatles and other British invasion bands and to 60's psychedelia.
