I realize a lot of you are probably not crazy about discussing Beatles albums, but this one has been bothering me for a little bit. I was talking with one of my friends about Beatles albums and we ended up getting into their earlier works. They insisted that, without a doubt, A Hard Days Night was the best of the early Beatles albums, and maybe on par with some of their later work. I completely disagreed, arguing that Help! was by far the best of the early Beatles albums. I enjoy most of the songs on Help!, but I find much of AHDN (notably the second half) unlistenable.

I'd say they're on par with each other, but a slight edge goes to AHDN... I've always been dissappointed that with Help! The Beatles went back to covers again. _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.

A Hard Day's Night, but not by much (75 vs. 70). I just like If I Fell and Can't Buy Me Love more than anything on Help.

AHDN because it has a shorter running time, meaning less Beatles, which is always a good thing.

Pre Rubber Soul rankings:
1. With The Beatles
2. Help!
3. Please Please Me
4. Beatles For Sale
5. A Hard Days Night
So yeah, Help! it is for me.

I really enjoyed this comment.. but I still hate it! 🤬
Used to prefer "Help!", but have changed to "A Hard Day's Night", because it's more innocent, less filler-like (I used to think the opposite) and has the best closer of the two: "I'll Be Back". _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

A Hard Day's Night is more consistently strong from start to finish, but the quality of the really good songs on Help might be better, if that makes any sense. The problem with the comparison is that Help also has some really painfully mediocre songs, whereas I don't think any of AHDN's songs fall into that category (Maybe, When I Get Home 🤔 )
I still say as far as straight forward pop/rock albums go, AHDN is one of the best ever, and is actually underrated when it comes to The Beatles catalog.

Yeah. I'll Be Back is one of their lesser known gems and one of the best early Beatles songs.

But seriously, I think the fact that Help has both Yesterday and Ticket to Ride helps to make it very slightly better than A Hard Day's Night.
