What is it about [insert band name here]? I just don't understand why they're so loved/hate (delete as applicable) by fans/journalists/this site's users/everybody. They're overrated/underrated. They're too conservative/weird. How is [insert album title here] at [insert # here] on our overall/year-specific chart? It's not as though music is subjective. This definitely needed its' own thread.

What is it about Roc Marciano? I just don't understand why he's so loved by lethalnezzle. He's overrated. How is Reloaded at 86 on our 2012 chart?

[insert band here] suck, people only like them because pitchfork gave them a good review.

I understand the hate for [insert band here] - whilst I admit [obvious fault] they are the most [unimaginative praise] of the [music genre] movement.
You have to appreciate that.

How about I just start all these threads:
What is it with The Beach Boys?
What is it with The Strokes?
What is it with Oasis?
What is it with Nirvana?
What is it with Wilco?
What is it with Merriweather Post Pavillion?
What is it with A Rush of Blood to the Head?
What is it with Boxer?
What is it with Pink Floyd?
What is it with Bon Iver’s second album?
What is it with Blur?
What is it with Trout Mask Replica?
What is it with In the Court of the Crimson King?
More like, what is it with suddenly going ga-ga with a number rating from a magazine and why should that automatically be an indicator to either over-hype an album or immediately dislike it just because it becomes highly regarded?
The thing is the only argument I have is that I personally don't care for these albums/bands, but a lot of people do and why should I just try to start a whole topic simply calling them "overrated"? That's the beauty of art: we all interpret something different and we can all agree to disagree about what can be considered a "masterpiece" in each particular field. And it seems like these threads aren't really interested in having a discussion about the actual work these musicians have done but about why or why not should these bands have any praise or artistic merit given to them, which never gets us anywhere. It just seems like an endless circle that just pushes us back intellectually and brews needless animosity towards each other...

What is it with The Strokes? They're fine.
What is it with Oasis? They're pretty good/sometimes very mediocre.
What is it with Nirvana? They're great/horrible
What is it with Wilco? They're fine
What is it with Merriweather Post Pavillion? It's very good!
What is it with A Rush of Blood to the Head? It's really amazing
What is it with Boxer? It's good and very pleasant.
What is it with Pink Floyd? They're surrealistically, godly, overwhelmingly, bigger than Jesusly, fantastically, magically, extremely, completely out-therely, overly amazingly great
What is it with Bon Iver’s second album? It's mediocre/bad
What is it with Blur? They're good
What is it with Trout Mask Replica? It's hilarious, yet catchy, yet deep, yet meaningful, yet completely nonsensical.
What is it with In the Court of the Crimson King? It's the extremely epic soundtrack to your exit!

^ See? We don't need an entire thread about a band or album we just find... "overrated". We could have a million threads like that... how about we just vent our feelings in the comments section? Makes more sense and doesn't clog up the forums

I think it was a good introduction. You pretty much summed up everything you like about music. _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal
