So I had a great experience last night listening to Chad Smith talk about his life and music career. He also played with some kids that won a Battle of the Bands contest. I hung out afterwards and got to meet him as well. It was a very awesome night!
Not to mention a really nice, funny, down to earth, cool guy. He was entertaining as hell. The funniest story he told was about the time he left his house for a week and convinced his mom to water his pot plants growing in his closet while he was gone. He told her they were for a school science project.
I've followed his career since the early 80's when he was a local drummer, as was I, here in the Detroit area pre-RHCP. We are about the same age, we both moved out to Hollywood to be rock stars at about the same time. Only difference is he made it, I didn't!

That's really awesome that you guys go back so far. And it's always inspiring when someone you admire stays somewhat humble despite their rise to stardom _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
