Well, I was full of shit there. I've listened to Doolittle an innumerable amount of times since then, and, well, my opinion has changed to the utmost extreme.
I encourage you to look at my chart in order to see this change.
I've been listening to it pretty much once or even twice a day now. Honestly, I can't get enough of every single song on it. As soon as the last chord in Gouge Away is strummed, I'm pretty much immediately like "I need to hear that bass line in Debaser again!"
I don't know why it took so long for Doolittle to click for me - it took WAY longer than Kid A did - but I'm so happy it did. It's a perfect album, and I honestly feel that there is no album that defines a genre in the way that Doolittle defines alt rock. Just an absolute fucking masterpiece. So yay for me, I guess!

I totally relate to your emotions towards Doolittle. During the first listen, while I enjoyed it, I had trouble accepting Black's vocals, especially during Debaser. I listened to it again and I realized how perfectly they fit with the raw sound and engineering of the whole album, together with the amazing contrast they make with Deal's sweet and gentle backing vocals. Now I just love it-Here Comes Your Man is among the greatest pop songs of its decade.

I think for me it was more about the impact of Surfer Rosa on me and how I really felt underwhelmed by Doolittle after that. But subsequent listens to both really opened up Doolittle for me all the way. Here Comes Your Man is the quintessential pop song.
