Very much prefer this album over Doolittle (which I believe is very overrated), and one of my favorite rock records released in the 80s. I don't know why, but Doolittle has always seemed a flatter, less-interesting take on this album.

This. Not bad, but nowhere near top 100 material. Doolittle is infinitely better.

Thoughts:

The cover is sexy as hell and she has a perfect rack.

The music is raw and vibrant and incredible exciting! I don't think it's better than Doolittle, because it goes back and forth. I have both on my chart. Really love their early stuff. Hard to explain. I can see why someone may think it's overrated. I just feel the mix of the maniacal vocals and insane and crunchy guitar and just the speed and FEROCITY of the production and playing mixed with the wildly good hooks and melodies and the female vocals on here is something that I only can find in early Pixies and early Gun Club. I mean this certain definite feeling, obviously I can find similarly invigorating sounds in lots of other albums.

I think anyone who digs this will probably really dig the 1981 album "Fire of Love" by The Gun Club.

And did I mention the beautiful album cover?

A masterpiece. I've never liked it more than Doolittle, but it's always been damn close. There's something so raw and energetic about this album that is irresistible. I will say, though, that the best songs on this album get little to no credit. "Where Is My Mind?" is, in my opinion, without a doubt the weakest track on the album (I'm excluding the spoken 10th track from consideration). However, this album is still chock-full of golden tunes, such as "Bone Machine", "Broken Face", "River Euphrates", and my personal favorite "Brick Is Red".
