If Foxygen wins over Angels of Light, I lose all hope for humanity.

JasonConfused, prepare yourself for true brilliance.

Jason should definitely prepare Yourself before he listens to the revolutionary work of art that is Foxygen's album.

Hurray my final nomination....I hope they don't lose to Foxyshit though.

Angels of Light is the group Michael Gira led between Swansโ€™ breakup and reformation. It is in many ways the logical conclusion of Swansโ€™ more melodic 90โ€™s work, fully embracing the folk and even country elements that haunted albums like White Light From the Mouth of Infinity, and then using creative arrangements to turn them into what feel like mystical folk hymns. Iโ€™d rate this album up with any of Swans most well regarded albums.

Everything is Good Here/Please Come Home is the groupโ€™s most dynamic and varied album. It moves between heartbreaking atmospheric lullabies (Palisades, Kosinksi) and deranged primal dances (All Souls rising, The rose of Los Angelas) before ending in uneasy, droning shamanic chants (What will come, Wedding). What really makes the album are Micheal Giraโ€™s vocals; turning from low moan, to strained whine, to sensitive whisper, to frantic bark; all to suit the mood of the music and lyrics.

The lyrics by the way are some of Giraโ€™s best. They are not quite as melodramatic as Swans lyrics, instead more concerned with a down to earth, everyday sense of tragedy. They don't carry the same sense of all consuming bleakness, yet are just as spiritually bent, and at times as cryptic as ever. If some of these lyrics, when coupled with the music, donโ€™t affect you, well then I donโ€™t know

With your robe open wide, and your mouth to the side,
they could see where you clutched, your golden sonโ€™s image.
They could see how you tried, to regain your ridiculous pride,
But you failed, then you died, with your dignity laid open

Reasons won't come, and no one will regret,
that your gone...

Reach down with fire
Reach down with rage
Reach for the open, endless blue space
Reach for the people, who look up from hate

God save us, save us, save us
From what will come.

ps: the album is easy enough to find online I think, but if your having trouble locating it, pm me and I might be able to help a little.

I've only just heard the first song of Everything Is Good Here and it's already better than Foxygen.

Sorry Jason.
