I haven't seen anything about this, so I was just wondering how everyone else is feeling about the new announcements and info from the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, which started June 11 (technically press releases started June 10) and runs until June 13.
Personally, I'm extremely underwhelmed by the XBox One. I mean, the games all look great, but there's not enough system exclusives to make it seem any better than PS4. Also, all the issues with the privacy and piracy protection just seem way over the top to the point that they degrade the gaming (and non-gaming entertainment) experience. The always connected (to the cloud/internet) thing clearly seems to me like it's the future of not only gaming, but computing and television as well (and other companies like Google, Apple, and EA seem to be heading in this direction as well, just not so totally all-at-once). PS4 looks nice, and while the price is definitely better than the XBox One, I've also been underwhelmed. Sony seemed to be focused way more on making fun of Microsoft than on actually showcasing their system and games. It'll probably be a while until I pick up either of these consoles (or a WiiU, which I don't have, and at this point don't intend to buy). Industry-wise, it seemed like Sony is heading in a much more indie-developer-friendly direction, where Microsoft (which previously held the "most indie friendly" title) seems like they're going in a different route.
Anyway, when it comes down to it, it's all about the games themselves. I'm not going to care if my console has Netflix or television capability or insane anti-piracy features if the games are great. And here are some of my favorite games from the show (so far, I guess):
Deadpool (PC/PS3/XB360)
I feel like this game should be out by now, but it looks great, so hopefully the wait is worth it.
Dead Rising 3 (XBOne)
It looks like it's going in a more serious direction than Dead Rising 1 or 2. Though I felt that the humor was where 1&2 had all their charm, maybe 3 can prove me wrong.
Call of Duty: Ghosts (PC/PS3/PS4/WiiU/XB360/XBOne)
Who doesn't love a brand new COD game?
Star Wars Battlefront (No systems mentioned yet)
While I was initially extremely disappointed when it was announced that EA had received exclusivity for making Star Wars games (and am still annoyed), at least they're doing something awesome with it. Everyone loved Battlefront 1&2, and to get an HD Battlefront is awesome.
Metal Gear Solid V (PS3/PS4/XB360/XBOne)
Another MGS game? Sign me up.
Titanfall (XB360/XBOne)
A sci-fi shooter by sam group of people (albeit with a different company) that brought us COD:MW2? This game just looked so stunning when they showed it.
Super Smash Bros (3DS/WiiU)
Call me a Smash Bros freak, but I can't help but be overly excited by a new smash game.
Anyway, what are your thoughts? Who "won" the press conference game? What games are you excited about? What surprised you? What underwhelmed you? Did anyone actually go to the event? _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

I haven't commented Defago's video in the random chat thread but I'm over-psyched for this. The Villager and Megaman are great additions so far I think. I can't wait to play this. I'll probably buy the Wii U just for this. I'm a complete Smash Bros. freak.
Well definitely Wii U is gonna be the winner these next few years. Xbox falls by its own weight (Tv Tv Tv Tv Tv) and Ps4 was kind of a meh. New Zelda + New Smash with Megaman by themselves are enough to convince me to convince my rich business school friends that they should buy it. Also Battlefront could be the best thing ever if done right. Pokemon looked great too.
The console industry is almost dead. There isn't really much to say about it anymore.
Did Jonathan Blow announce the release date of his new game yet? Because it's really making me sad that nobody but he and Ken Levine have been talking about gaming as a true artform.

I believe this is entirely true. The mobile (iPhone/Pad, Android; NOT 3DS/Vita) is taking over, and PC gaming has always been strong. And indie gaming is coming up strong. I believe the console game is almost up, and this generation might prove to be the killing field for at least one of the big 3 (Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo).

The Witness (Blow's game) is supposed to release sometime this year, for PC and iOS, and there's plans to make a PS4 version, no word about XBox One, and current-gen consoles (as well as WiiU) seem out of the option. Microsoft seems to be really unfriendly with indie developers, being reluctant to release dev kits. Anyway, I wasn't a huge fan of Braid, but The Witness looks like it's going to be great.
As far as Ken Levine, I don't know if he's involved with the project (my guess is he isn't), but Square Enix is rebooting his Thief series for XBox One, PS4, and PC, and it looked pretty sweet in videos from E3.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and SMASH BROS SMASH BROS SMASH BROS (This game alone has got me really excited about gaming for the first time since...well since the last Smash Bros). _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

I may have to buy a WiiU just for it...
Edit: I'm not sure what the WiiU is like to play with, but Smash Bros could be epic if Nintendo get the online play working well with it. (Brawl's online play was abysmal...) _________________
