REMEMBER 2013??? ALBUM #1 Seasons Of Your Day by Mazzy Star As if no time has past, the dreamy folk of Seasons of You Day sounds like the perfect follow-up to Among Your Swan. ALBUM #2 Exit! by Fire! Orchestra All-star Swedish crew works perfectly in a fanfare free jazz sort of way, with metronomic/tribal Amon Düül undertones to it. Really good and haunting. ALBUM #3 with apologies to my co-captain Monomania by Deerhunter The album that the Strokes should've released this year ! brilliant, perfect even ! best album of the year ALBUM #4 Kenny Dennis LP by Serengeti So Serengeti has been doing his Kenny Dennis character for a few years, but this really feels like the culmination of all of that work he's put into building that character, and it's definitely the most complete release featuring the fictional, ageing Chicagoan. The sense of regret throughout is palpable, and it makes for a record that is as touching as it is funny. ALBUM #5 Innocence Is Kinky by Jenny Hval If a guy made this album it would be really uncomfortable. Singles, you say? 1995. I mean, MC Frogger seemingly blew a huge amount of money picks here, but then again 1995 is pretty fucking deep, so I think he'll be okay.

1995, not even close. All five singles chosen for that year are killer, while the 2013 choices are okay at best. On the album side, it's a little closer (Kenny Dennis LP is pretty rad), but still 1995 outperforms.
