Hey I'm thinking about finally reviving the song tournament despite this section being rather quiet recently, since we never did a 2023 I'm thinking about doing a real quick tournament of the previous year (2023) so we can have all the years of the Noveau Twenties covered before moving on to 2024. So only 16 songs this time, make sure to pick the best of the best, go ahead and go with two nominations apiece but might open it back up if we don't get enough in the next week or so. Or might scrap entirely, who knows. Anyways go ahead and pick your (pair of) pony(ies).

Thanks Craola and Travelful, good to see we still have interest in the games here, will put up the nomination board. Understanding it takes some time to revisit, as I already have to rack my brain over what was the best in '23.
Yeah it's always tough to limit choices down. The two tracks I nominated have been in heavy rotation for me since they released. Was also considering a few Zach Bryan and Parannoul tracks. Figured since I nominated lots of Zach Bryan in the other 2020's tournaments you guys probably get the picture by now. He's got quite a few of my favorite 2023 tracks though since his self titled album is the only album I've rated a 10/10 this decade.
Not a bad year, lots of good albums, but not a lot of great ones - and in terms of individual tracks, not much really stood out for me. If I had to pick a single track that I liked and that might have at least a ghost of a chance in a contest like this, it would probably be Blondshell's "Kiss City" (which admittedly was released as a digital single in 2022, but it's track 2 on the 2023 album, and perhaps more importantly I hope it won't get confused with Blonde Redhead's "Kiss Me Kiss Me").
Just gonna say...as someone who is traditionally late to newer music (by design), these tournaments are actually helpful. I don't have anything really other than that to offer, but from an outsider, know that these are seen and appreciated. You give people like me a good intro of what to look forward to (even if you may be actually looking back). _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

See now, this is what I'm talking about — you can't spell "Blondshell" as "Blondeshell," because that's only going to make it easier for people to confuse her with Blonde Redhead. It's bad enough that there's an album called "Blonde on Blonde," though thankfully that was recorded over half a century ago by some guy or other. But now all I'm doing is making it more likely that this thread will turn into a "blond" vs. "blonde" thread, and anyone who's been through one of those knows it's a total nightmare.
