I'm not sure how obscure these are considered to be, but they're not as well known I guess.

Bands similar to Led Zeppelin worth checking out: Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Rainbow, and UFO.

Fuck Jason, those aren't obscure band.

Here, check out the following for Led Zeppelin like bands (when first listening to music I was a fucking dad rocker and found these out). Well, I haven't listened to them in a while (exception being rose hill drive who's song "sneak out" is a song I play often in guitar hero) so apologies if it's not exactly like them, but close enough and they're still all good Hard rock type stuff:

Rose Hill Drive
The Answer
The Union
Stone Gods
Black spiders
StoneRider

Actually I was just listening to Josh Ritter's new album, he's a lot like Paul Simon, check him out.

Simon & Garefunkel,

I'd like to suggest listening to The Louvin Brothers and Everly Brothers, even if they're not all that obscure. that's where those harmonies were perfected. for a more obscure songwriter pick, try Gene Clark (originally of The Byrds)

Genesis/Peter Gabriel,

1970s King Crimson. Specifically Red and Lizard

They're not all that obscure, but you should check out Big Star. They're a great example of the 70s Power pop sort of stuff that you seem to like, and generally a fantastic band.
