This is basically a battle of debut vs debut for me, and even though I like Gang Of Four's post debut stuff more than the Violent Femmes' post-debut stuff, I like VF just enough more than Entertainment for me to vote their way. Both bands deserve to go on though.

Unwilling to choose between both debuts, I have tried sophomore vs sophomore. Violent Femmes win.
After The National and MBV competing in the PPNW tourney, we have Gang of Four (possibly the most distinctive post-punk sound imo) being distanced my a mile.... _________________ I'll be your plastic toy.
Well I was going to try write something, but people probably already know their decision at this stage. Naturally I prefer Gang Of Four, Entertainment! in particular is an album I love and the one that introduced me to the band. But Violent Femmes seem to have pulled too far ahead at this stage... _________________
Like CellarDoor said, Gang Of Four have a distinctive post-punk sound, they're the band I personally tend to associate with the genre when I think of post-punk.
