- Post subject: I'm reinventing myself
|
I have not been changing as much lately, I have not been challenging myself. I think I am getting into routines and after no new lyrics lately and one whole week with no writing, maybe a bit rusty with the pen too.
Maybe I need to reinvent myself? 😕
My chart consists of what I have listened to for too long and albums and songs are taken on my mp3 after having breaks of 3 years.
While it is a little selfish to have a thread all about me, I can have just the one can't I? Does anyone have any opinions (not personal insults) about me regarding music? Is there things I should be reassessing? Without being soft, how do you think my charts and taste have developed? People who have been here a few years might give a better description of how I have developed but anyone is really welcome to say what they think. Not only related to my charts but what about my other ratings and comments?
What do you think about tastes I put out? Suggestions of bands/artists and albums welcome.

Not a reccomendation, but I found limiting my chart to 2 albums per artist to be very therapeutic. I was able to see how so many albums I adored by were overshadowed by some obvious choices. I feel my chart feels much more 'me' now, like I'm not being pulled down by the albums I feel I should have on my chart.
Your chart is very heavily Manic Street Preachers - perhaps try a limit. It creates a level playing field for any other artist and I've found I appreciate other artists much more since.

I think you're doing just fine. Sure Manic Street Preachers, Dead Kennedys, and Kate Bush still dominate as they did over two years ago, but Sparks, Scott Walker, and Japandroids are all really new. Likewise there are some constants in my chart, and no one's taste completely recycles. And even though I wouldn't find your chart very fun to listen to, I've always loved it for it's naked honesty.

You let Chairlift and Fun into your world. I'm not sure if that's a good thing 😄 It does show that you're not locked in a box however.

I agree with this. I remember when I was like 8 Beatles albums on my chart, I felt like I had to have them there because I was still chasing some kind of objectivity back then... I take the chart less seriously now, I think, and it's just a much better time.
But yeah, no worries, you're fine! _________________ My top songs of the 2010s

Stick with what you know and love. How can you truly rate anything else? _________________ <(: @ :)>

I mean, I haven't been around so long so I really can't make the best judgement, but I enjoy your forum presence and how you uphold yourself and your music, I think you're just fine as you are.

Also outlaw, I know you don't like hip-hop but please check out Blu & Exile's Below The Heavens. I think you might like it.
