To be fair to Thursday, I did find them to be more entertaining then most bands similar to their style that I've heard and they had some interesting ideas. I still didn't really find them to be much more than average at best though. Gold is a great album that I think will grow on me over time. Sometimes the melodies sound a bit cheesy to me in a Swans like way, but that's not something that really bothers me too much. The middle of Gold is absolutely fantastic too, and they're local so I gotta give them props.

"Gold" is one of the best shoegaze albums I've listened to, dense and engaging, and it could easily have been one of my nominations.

Oh wait, not far off, it's one of Magenta's 😁

I cannot get a hold of Gold. Might abstain if I cannot hear both.

I really expected to love Gold more than I have so far. Meanwhile I had relatively low expectations for a newish Thursday record.

Gold has its moments where the swirling wash of shoegaze guitars are wonderfully consuming, but also I found myself incredibly bored with the songwriting for the most part. I think it may grow on me with repeated listens, but to me it sounds like your stereotypical pretty good shoegaze album. I did quite enjoy"Cygnus X-1" though.

When Thursday released their first couple albums, I was dating a girl who loved them, so I heard those records a lot. I liked some songs, but eventually grew tired of them. No Devolucion is the first Thursday record I've heard in years. I honestly expected to hear something terrible for some reason, but have been quite impressed with it. This sounds like classic Sunny Day Real Estate type emo. The production kind of sucks and ruins it all, but there's some good things happening here.

So, I don't love either record, but I'm voting for No Devolucion with a very slight edge

Disliked both records tbh. I ended up voting for Gold because there where a few neat moments here and there on an otherwise dull album.
No Devolucion had little redeemable qualities and the singling really stared to grate me after the first few tracks. I doubt I will ever revisit it.

it's the production. the production on 99% of modern emo albums is horrible. At The Drive In's Relationship of Command was the beginning of the end. I love that album, but the production nearly destroyed it.
