Claustrophobic, but in a good way. I really have to sit down and listen to this all the way through to really appreciate it. There are just so many sounds coming at you from all directions, that it demands your full attention to process it all. Brilliant album.

It's very inaccessible, but quite brilliant in its own way. I positively adore the first two tracks. The 4 that follow are good, but very hard for me to get into unless I sit down and focus on nothing else (which is no mean feat, considering the length of the album). I prefer Kind of Blue because it's less hard work to listen to, but this one can ultimately be a more rewarding experience if listened to with the right mindset.

Quite funny, I was actually going to describe it as finding yourself (not the user... well, also the user) on an African savanna on acid. Some of the trumpet noises definitely sound like elephants having a bad trip.

Of Miles' rock/funk/whatever-infused albums (I understand that all of these four albums have very different feels and aren't necessarily the best records to associate with each other, but what the hell, I'm no expert on jazz, I just knows what I likes), I prefer Jack Johnson, On the Corner and Dark Magus to this. Bitches Brew never really spoke to me. That isn't to say I don't enjoy it, because I do, but I certainly enjoy those mentioned above more. Then again, my earliest memories of listening to this album are of a time when I wanted jazz to be a certain way, to do certain things, to sound more like jazz, and this album didn't really do it for me - chances are that those early memories have clouded my judgement, and I return to this pretty infrequently (it's been about 15 months since I last listened to it, and before that I'd probably only heard it five or six times, which is a far smaller number than I've heard those other three albums). Whatever it is, I've always thought of this album as a failed experiment, which I knows goes against popular opinion and conventional wisdom. And whatever 'Pharoah's Dance' is, I don't really like it. Things get better afterwards, but I find that song a real chore. By the time it gets to the fantastic 'Sanctuary', though, I'm almost won round. Almost, but not quite.

Ahhhhh I havent penetrated into jazz as much as other genres but damn Bitches Brew has to be my fav. One of the most spiritually intense albums Ive listened to; it's an absolute journey for the soul. Theres something peaceful about the crushing power of this album.

lol that's not too far off something I apparently wrote on the album page more than a year ago:

"when I listen to it I feel like I'm standing on an African savannah while I dehydrate. I the horizon I can see wild animals fucking and smoking weed."

I don't know why I wrote that

This album is uncomfortable at best. It made me feel like crawling out of my own skin and beating myself to death just to make the pain stop. If you like albums where actual music doesn't start until 1:09:00, then this is a great album (not).

I know what some of you are thinking... "This guy is a ass" (probably true for posting this). I assure you that I really don't mean to offend anyone, but this album made me angry on so many levels.

Reasons why bobo doesn't like this album:

A: He's a idiot that just doesn't get it.
B: It's just not for him.
C: It really is a horrible album.
