... of a timeline. You know: an image consisiting of a timeline with selected albums (= from a chart) indicated on it. Preferably, the higher the album is ranked, the bigger it appears on the timeline. I know this would be damn hard to do ( you would for example need more detailed release dates + I imagine coding something like this would be hell), but it would be cool, I think.
Note that LZ IV was released in november and DSOTM in march. Also note that, since DSOTM is higher ranked, it is bigger.
Obvlious disadvantages:
*does BEA has the release dates?
*The image could become cluttered if you have multiple albums released closely to each other
*On the other hand, if you have a chart with 88 albums post 90s and 12 pre 90s, the pre 90s part would become 'empty'.
*Who would code this?
For these and many other reasons, I was only dreaming about it.
I don't think it would be possible without a release date field. Otherwise you'd get a huge pile on top of every year. Unless you did something like, year, then alphabetically or something.
I've done a little research into this. Release date information can be pretty difficult to get on some albums that were slow in generating notice or for albums that were first released by a minor label that no longer exists.

Yes, we don't have specific release dates at the moment. Leaving that aside, I like the general idea, but I'm not sure how useful it would be, especially for the amount of time it would take to develop (even antiloopje posted back acknowledging this). For an artist discography it might be quite impactive, but for a chart, it could be very crowded (especially if there were 100 entries, and the chart only covered a few years).
