Alright, who saw Kanye West on Seth Meyers's new show? My perspective on the dude has completely changed for the better, and it was still higher than others to begin with.

Totally agree. I liked Seth on SNL as the host of weekend update, but I think having his own late night show will allow him to grow and mature as a comedian. Really looks forward to what the future holds for him.

Kanye is still an egotistical doofus.

I got 3 min in and he had already compared him self to Philip Seymor Hoffman, Daniel Day Lewis, Michelangelo AND my favorite 8th grade teacher. Sorry Mr. West, you are no Mrs. Graham!

when he was crying that thom wouldn't talk to him, he actually compared himself to radiohead, of course that is ridiculous but it isn't a reason to get mad at him

I have to say, I was impressed with Seth. His second show ever and his main guest is one of the most difficult people to interview and he handled it really well.

As for Kanye, I personally think the guy doesn't understand how to interact with people. I think he's similar to Prince in that respect, though less reserved. He just doesn't understand social interaction and how to talk to people. He comes across as egotistical, and he probably is, but I think it stems from his inability to interact with people in a normal way. Often very creative people are a little odd, and I think that's how he is.

I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but when I see interviews with him, he seems genuine. What he says might sound weird (e.g. his "sonic paintings"), but I think he just says what he feels, which I think is at least somewhat respectable, despite the fact that what he says can be a little crazy at times.

This^ Also, isn't it a shame that his ego distracts from his music? I feel like his attitude gives people false perceptions of his music because the truth of the matter is that he's a pretty solid rapper (and his arrangements are pretty good) despite the fact that his lyrics need a lot of work...

I don't listen to A LOT of rap, so maybe you can just fill me in on how you can be a "pretty solid rapper" and still your "lyrics need a lot of work"

I think that question is similar to "How can you be a good singer if your lyrics suck?" The answer is : by singing well. Where is the absurdity?

Ehh, I don't know. Singing involves pitch, timbre, vocal range. I'm not saying that rapping doesn't take talent, but I do think lyrics in rap are far more important to the quality than they are in vocal singing. If "freestyling" is a bare-bones form of rapping, than the lyrics (and the rappers ability to deliver them) are the most import aspect. And, if Kanye's lyrics are bad, is his delivery what sets him apart from other rappers? I guess that is my question. If its not his lyrics, then what is it about Kanye, specifically, that sets him apart? Is he responsible for the production (he employed rick ruben to bail him out last year, with something like 4 weeks before yeezus was supposed to drop.
