Both artists are fine but not much more for me. If I had to be stuck on an island with only one of their discographies though it would be Holter, so my vote goes to her.

Iron & Wine



Julia is pretty good, but Sam delivers highs that she's yet to touch.

I think Iron and Wine's music is boringly predictable.

I feel Holter's music is merely unengaging, it's just kinda there.



So Holter it is, for giving me a little less boredom.

Iron and Wine's first album is fine, but most of his other stuff I find pretty dead. I've only heard Loud City Song from Holter, but I think that album is fantastic and I'd take it over the entire Iron and Wine discography.

Holter is just getting started. i think she'll continue to improve, and she's already gone beyond Sam Bam.

Holter makes fantastic, sprawling music, Iron and Wine just feels very safe, and similar to dozens of other artists.
