|
Okay, guys, since we've been in the age of CD's for so long, I'm gonna define "double album" as any album that exceeds 60 minutes in length.
Mine would be:
*The Wall-Pink Floyd
*London Calling-The Clash
*Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie-Alanis Morissette
*The Fragile-Nine Inch Nails
*American Doll Posse-Tori Amos
*Boys For Pele-Tori Amos
*Screamadelica-Primal Scream (Yes, it's a double album)
*The White Album-The Beatles
What about you?

The Allman Brothers Band - At Fillmore East (1971),
by a good margin, followed by:
The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street (1972)
The Clash - London Calling (1979),
all of which were actual double disc albums on their release.

If including "best ofs" then The Best Of Gary Numan 1978-1983
Otherwise, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins _________________ <(: @ :)>

Good question. Double albums have long been controversial in music. One side argues that the long length prevents the artist from having a clear focus. The other side argues that the albums are better because they allow the artist to freely express themselves. Here's some of my favorites, in no particular order:
Beatles - White Album
Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde
Clash - London Calling
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Rolling Stones - Exile on Main St
Who - Quadrophenia (favorite)
The Pumpkins' "Melon Collie" is also good, but I'm not sure if I would call it one of my favorites or not.
All of these albums are held in high regard by most critics as some of the finest in rock music, and I too appreciate them as masterpieces of creativity and art.

You get more songs on the double album which makes them better than albums sometimes ๐

Drukqs - Aphex Twin
(although I believe it could have been a better normal length album)
