Coltrane intended for this album to be an homage to God. If I was Yahweh, I think i'd feel pretty chuffed. _________________

This is just such a masterpiece. I only just recently fell in love with it sooooo hard. Everything about it is just so beautiful. All the musicians kick ass and the arrangements are great. "Resolution" has a melody that is not only emotionally stirring and fab but also catchy as hell. Gets stuck in my head every time.
I'm not what you'd think of as a traditionally (Christian) religious person, but this album speaks to me on the subject, makes me feel more spiritual. It's such a logically put together, moving piece of art that I just usually feel so much more hopeful and inspired after hearing it.
Also it had to be in my top 3 jazz albums ever.

I really like this album but, I have to say, I prefer both Blue Train and My Favourite Things. Still good, though.

McCoy Tyner ♥
If I could put this record in every effing chart I make, I'd do it. Top 3 jazz albums of all-time, top 10 all genres. Re-listened to it only the other day, everytime I re-fall in love.

Should be way higher in our overall, but I think that's already been established. This album is a religious experience. Greatest jazz album of all time, easy.

There are 2 kinds of great album types: the ones that show off their beauty immediately and others - more eclectic - that reveal their greatness a piece at time. This belongs to the second category. _________________ "And can’t you see you’re in on it?
