Hey there, BEA - I know I can't be the only amateur cosmetologist on the site, so I figured I'd make a thread to talk about all those great things like hair care and skin care and DIY soaps and the like.

We could talk about treatment related-related stuff - like, tonight I just did a clay mask and I was looking for my Hyal moisturizing cream and realized I was out, so I was looking for some aloe but found out I was out of that too, so thinking quickly I grabbed some raw unpasturized honey, mixed it with some witch hazel and tea tree oil, and let it sit on my face for an hour. My skin felt amaaaazing afterwards; I'm thinking of doing it again tomorrow but after an Aspirin mask - the resulting smoothness and softness of my skin will be incredible.

Or maybe some of you could have your own questions about what to do about your beauty ailments - dry skin, oily skin, dandruff, acne, frizzy hair, oily hair, hair removal, yellow teeth, etc. - don't be shy! Let ME help YOU to be more ~`*BEAUTIFUL*`~.

Um... to get us started, here's a little soap I concocted that's been really working wonders! My skin can get pretty oily, and I wasn't really happy with any of the store-bought body exfoliants I'd been trying out, so I made this one myself.

JACK’S NEW DIY BODY SCRUB
- Dead sea salt
- Grapeseed oil (or olive oil if you're a cheap cunt)
- Tea tree oil
- Lemon juice
- Aloe vera gel

1. Add a little bit of tea tree oil to your grapeseed/olive oil and pour over salt. The ratio should be 2:1 salt:oil (with a little less oil, to make room for the lemon juice).
2. Squeeze a fresh lemon into the mix for that citrus goodness. Stir it in with some aloe vera gel.
3. Use it in the shower three times a week before using body wash; scrub into skin with pressure.

You should always exfoliate your body at least two or three times a week to get rid of all those dead skin cells and keep your skin fresh. The salt in the scrub causes the actual abrasion that lifts the dead skin - some DIY recipes call for granulated sugar, but dead sea salt works just as well, if not better as the high concentration of magnesium in the salt promotes healthy skin hydration and stimulates blood circulation. Grapeseed oil is great for preventing breakouts in acne-prone skin, and is also hydrating and filled with positive minerals. The tea tree oil in the concoction acts as an antibacterial agent and kills any pockets of bacteria in the exposed pores before they can form blemishes, and aloe vera, as always, is a veritable action hero that does pretty much everything.

Now, lemon juice is a little bit of a controversial choice - you can use any citrus fruit really, but I like keeping my skin pale white, and lemon juice helps lighten skin and maintain a frosty complexion. It does, however, make it much easier to be sunburned...

2 cold slices of cucumber on the eyes reduces circles and baggies under the eyes... i usually leave them on for a couple of minutes after a particularly tough night out!

I also make my own body butter from coconut solids/ raw shea butter and almond oil... But it isn't necessarily cheaper than buying it in the shops. But if you want the recipe I'm happy to share

A mushed up avocado smeared on your clean face is also great if you have dry skin. I used to do this a lot when I lived in a country that got cold... Don't need it quite so much anymore, although avocados are cheap as chips here!

I also do a rinse thing for my hair using home made rose water... Again happy to share the recipe for dems what is interested!

Try the mushed up avocado face pack... That works wonders on dry skin...

And for the record...it is summer here at the moment and very not cold! Very Happy

I have long curly hair that I flaunt every chance I get. It pulls like you wouldn't believe. Problem is, the ends are becoming increasingly dry. I use a lot of this creamy hair product stuff that I put on when I get out of the shower after drying my hair a bit, but the ends still seem to get dry. Not sure what to do. It's not unbearable but it certainly isn't as smooth as I wish it was.
