Had never heard any of those, but just listened to Bump Talkin' and I must say I'm very impressed. Except for one or two tracks that verge on the loungey techno that I can enjoy only in small doses, it's banger after banger and an instant favourite. I can just hope Minutes of Sleep is only half as good and the matchup will have made my day.
Oh and is it safe to assume that Daft Punk's Homework rips this off in more than one instance? Asking the connoisseurs. "Revolution 909" for instance doesn't sound so original all of a sudden.

Absolutely. It's no wonder that Paul Johnson is the first person namechecked in Teachers. In fact "Tenancious" off Bump Talkin can be seen as a direct precursor for a lot of the stuff Bangalter put out on Roule (i.e. Trax On Da Rocks).
Glad someone's taken to the trouble to listen to it to be honest. Feared that this tournament was going the way of the metal one (admittedly a period of ill-health and holiday hasn't helped on my part, but if folks are still keen to keep up then I'm more than willing to keep this going).

kinda late here (as usual), but as one of the handful of records in this tournament, I hadn't heard yet, Bump Talkin' was a great discovery (cheers Jim). I've undoubtedly seen the name Paul Johnson somewhere before (probably as part of a mix or comp or something) but man as Norm and Jim referenced, this thing feels really foundational to the Bangalter & Co's sound (except better than most of what that entails). Got unexpectedly funky at points. Don't get me wrong, I've dug Minutes of Sleep since its release (and still give it a spin on occasion), but I feel like there a handful of Harris' peers who do the "jazzy ambient super-minimal dreamy house" in a way that scratches my itch for that kind of thing more fully, whereas Bump Talkin is scratching an itch I wasn't even aware was bothering me until now, and I'm very grateful for that (thanks again Jim 😉 )
