Since reforming again last year (2023-24; there was a previous reunion LP, "Monsters Next Door" in 2009), their sound has changed considerably, with more synths, less guitars, and a fair amount of conventional pop orchestration, if not conventional pop songs. But the biggest change has been lead singer Michel Smordynia's vocal style, which used to be subtle, airy, and wistful (to go with the more atmospheric sound overall). It's now much more throaty, emotive, and (quite frankly) nasal. I like the album, though - it's better than "Monsters Next Door," but if you're hoping for an 80s throwback, this isn't quite it.

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
