Tapping into Navarro's Memorial Album, I got a bit of a cross section of his output with him appearing with The Tadd Dameron Sexted, The Howard McGhee Sextet, and Bud Powell's Moderists. I was literally thrilled to listen to his remarkably bright and sharp attack on the trumpet. But at the same time he, even while leaping about, could be highly lyrical. He breathes (literally) great spirit into everything he plays. This album is end to end solid with top flight bebop, and a joy to listen to.
