78.40* This is great. Very surprised that it's not even really ranked. The blues on this are of the darker nature. Think of the theme song to 'The Soprano's'. Musically, this albums in the same vein as that. Then I discovered that it was Alabama 3 who wrote it. Well I'll be. Fantastic vocals. No showboating with flash guitaring, just heavy rhythm and grunt. Top notch. 10/25

75.90 This was a slow burner for me as not what I expected. A different rendition from earlier albums with this being mellower, even folkier on a few tracks. This is due to the total absence of any guttural vocals but they still maintain their skilled music complexity. Decent; just took me a while to warm to it.

73.33 Many songs on this have 'Dragonforce' written all over them, except with the bubblegum vocals. This is alright but not holding the same joy as it did when it first came out

65.00 Great fan of Nick Cave. Love his story telling style lyrics on top of great music. With this however, I find an album of dark poetry with a background of slow melodic gothy jazz. It's alright but not as immense when compared to his other work. I'm surprised at how highly ranked this stands amid his catalog of mind blowing albums. Each to their own I guess.
