Gigs of 2024
by Johnnyo
This is a chart of the artists that I have seen play live in 2024. I have not included support acts unless their performance warrants an inclusion.
The list is gradually being added to and is in best to least good order. The album chosen will generally be their latest release but might as easily be a random pick depending on how I’m feeling
This list doesn’t include the bands that I see who don’t have album releases.

Fabulous evening at the wonderful Union Chapel in Islington, London.
Always a joy to see these folks play. Southern rock combined with Molesey Shoals cool, great showmanship from the main man and great musicians. What more does anyone need from a gig? Brilliant [First added to this chart: 10/28/2024]

October gig and Wow!!!!!! What a gig it was at Lafayette in Kings Cross, London.
One of my favourite venues in London hosted the Swedish blues rockers, Blues Pills.
Dominating the stage was Elin Larsson. What a voice and stage presence. Think Janis Jopin paired with Lydia Pense. Outstanding. This combined with the Peter Green inspired guitar work of Zack Anderson, as well as a great rhythm section and you have a great band.
All original material covering the last 13 years, this band really have some truly brilliant songs and they performed them with amazing energy. Certainly ranks as one of the gigs of the year. [First added to this chart: 09/29/2024]

The best gig of High Tide in the church at the end of Church Street. Very atmospheric gig with Dean playing with a full band. Only ever seen him play solo before.
Brilliant gig and a very engaged audience. Such an underrated performer. Deserves far more love than he gets [First added to this chart: 10/24/2024]

Another great gig, this time in central London at 229.
I've been a fan of the Long Ryders for at least 40 years. how do I know this, well, this gig was to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Native Sons. I was at a gig back in 1984 when they released this album so a lot of synergy there
The middle section of the gig was the album in it's entirety, in track order. Great album, great gig which finished with a rousing version of Lewis and Clark.
Great night. [First added to this chart: 10/17/2024]

Headlining Gunnersbury 2024, She was absolutely brilliant. I've seen PJ twice before but not for about 20 years and obviously the breadth of material has expanded a lot.
Covered all periods of her career and the theatrics and stage presence, as well as great musicianship, including John Parish were 2nd to none. Great gig [First added to this chart: 11/12/2024]

2nd time seeing Tomas this year, this time with a full band thanks to High Tide.
Really got the crowd Rockin’ mid afternoon on the main stage. Or me, one of the best acts of the festival and also, overall, a great live performer. Catch him if you can [First added to this chart: 10/26/2024]

Red Rooster headliners and for me, the best act of the weekend.
Seen these country / southern rock musicians many times and they always deliver. Great guitar playing and musicianship. Very solid band who always deliver a great show [First added to this chart: 10/20/2024]

Solo in store at Eel Pie Records in SW London to promote his latest album.
Great little record shop that does this quite a lot and the place was packed for Pete. Very good 45 minute set and chatted afterwards. Lovely, talented bloke who deserves more recognition that he gets. [First added to this chart: 10/21/2024]

Unbelievably, my first ever gig at 229 in Central London. I have followed Rain Parade for nearly 40 years but had never seen them live before last year. Now I've seen them twice in 12 months. Funny how things turn out.
Very much part of the Paisley Underground scene in the 1980's, less hair and more weight than back then but still a powerful combination of Velvet Underground meets Husker Du. If you like bands live Dream Syndicate or Miracle Legion then these guys are up your street [First added to this chart: 11/08/2024]

Saw Pete play the Cabbage Patch in Twickenham, SW London, as part of the High Tide Festival.
Played as part of a duo. two guitars, so pretty sparce which allows the beauty of song writing to shine through. The venue was packed but they had the folding doors wide open so even though we were out on the street, we got a great gig. [First added to this chart: 10/21/2024]
