This is the superior version in my eyes. Of course, it may be easy to say as I've played this album a few times now and this one always comes first. But the interplay, the emotion and feeling, the effortless free form bliss.
No disrespect to Elvin Jones, at all, ever, not possible. Elvin would rank higher than Roy Haynes on my list of favorite drummers and influences overall, but Roy's b r i l l i a n t mind and musicality shines on this track and is one of the things I really prefer to the 1965 version of this track.
