Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 89.4/100, a mean average of 88.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.7/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.7.

This song is AWESOME. I've definitely heard it somewhere before, it sounds very familiar
Famous riff, but that doesn't mean it's f'n awesome!

Music video is integral to the experience of this piece. It's not an outright thrashy beast like Master of Puppets but the restraint and lyrics add a lot to the weight of the song I feel. One of their best.

This is one of those songs that doesn't really feel like it's from a certain band, but it is. I hope that makes sense, lol. Good song

The riff is fucking gargantuan. Overall it's a solid track and well organized. Not to mention a great opener. However it is of course overrated.
The most popular Metallica song is a dark story about how just a grain of sand can scare you all the way to Never-Never-Land, and it's a darn good song to. I think the song could be a little improved if they added creepy piano.
Catchy, definitely. The lyrics are good. It could just use a tiny, tiny bit of work. I like the echo effects, most of all.

There are a lot of haters but this is truly one of Metallica's best songs. It isn't thrash like their other hits but it's heavy as hell and beautifully written.
