Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 91.8/100, a mean average of 91.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 92.1/100. The standard deviation for this track is 11.4.

I hate to use such overused hyperbole, but there really is nothing else quite like this that I've ever come across. truly some of his best songwriting, which really is saying something. So clean yet so freakish, letting its darker underbelly shine through the façade in just the right way. After a decade of personas, to release such a jarring, wild song about coming to terms with being someone else hits in a way that nothing else does. Absolutely incredible.

Haunting track from Bowie, one of his best.

Such a perfect song. My favourite of Bowie's. It's got everything there: new wave sound, sinister junkie funk sound, on to a classic doo-wop chord progression inspired chorus. And those lyrics... "I never done good things/I never done bad things" is my personal highlight. Plus he ruins the dthen decade old statue of heroic Major Tom. 100/100.
