Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 91.3/100, a mean average of 91.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.9/100. The standard deviation for this track is 10.1.

Masterpiece!
One of the great singalongs of all time. Indeed very well crafted songwriting and some of Bernie's best lyrics.
The opener promises much for this album but infact it proves to be the best song on the album by a long chalk (in my opinion).
Great songwriting. Nice use of the pedal steel. "Hold me closer, Tony Danza".....
Fantastic vocals and lyrics.
Heard a version of this by ben folds yesterday.. not great by comparison, but it highlights how good Elton's vocals were in the early 70s. Ben is obviously a big admirer of Elton john. I am not a vocalist, but it sounds like this melody would be difficult to sing.
This song and "Levon" were the two singles released from this album, I love them both,..probably "Levon" a little better...Not a huge Elton fan, but my favorite Elton John songs would be:
1)Rocket Man
2)Michelle's Song(from the soundtrack to "friends")
3)Levon
4)Tiny Dancer
5)Your Song
These were all released within a year and 1/2 from each other starting in 11/70 thru 3/72 and I really liked them all and thought I'd hit the jackpot but not too long after, he settled into adult contemporary land.
