Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

A rather straightforward pop tune. But I like it.
This has a nice tempo and pace to it, set with Tony's piano. Phil's voice is well suited to the key.
Traces of pop Genesis may have started with I Know What I Like and Counting Out Time on the two previous albums, but it found its way into this album, then again on Wind & Wuthering (Your Own Special Way) and And Then There Were Three (Follow You Follow Me) before finally taking center stage with Duke in 1980. I think this takes second place to Follow You Follow Me for the best of those early-Phil Collins-era pop tunes. While still maintaining plenty of prog elements (a crazy story of a beast that can talk, some excellent keyboard work from Banks), A Trick of the Tail incorporates pop with great success, what with its "Getting Better"-like beat and vibrant feel all throughout. It's a damn fine song.
