This one (and I mean the 10-minute version) took me completely by surprise. It's mindblowing how well-written it is. The level of intimacy and detail that Swift delves into and the masterful narrative structure of the lyrics give the song an almost cinematic quality. Add to that her emotional performance and the slick and tasteful production by Antonoff. The end product is truly staggering. Seriously, every time someone tells you that Taylor Swift is a mediocre singer-songwriter, show them All too well, because I don't think there are many artists in the mainstream who can write a song like this.
This song is one of the best songs of all time.
It seems a popular exercise to hate on Taylor Swift on this website, but damn if she doesn't write some great songs from time to time. This is absolutely one of those.
All the cringey stuff Taylor Swift has done in the past decade is absolved by the brilliance of this track
