Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 93.6/100, a mean average of 92.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 93.8/100. The standard deviation for this track is 13.1.

Where to start? It’s David bloody Bowie’s best song. Ever. I mean musically, it’s the greatest song ever. Not only is Bowie a brilliant artist on his own, but he tops it when he works with others. Under Pressure with Queen. Fame with John Lennon. Tonight with Tina Turner. And “Heroes” just tops the bill working with Brian Eno. 10/10.
This is my favourite Bowie's song. Great melody and well crafted
One of the greatest songs ever recorded. Thank you, King Bowie.
This is the most iconic song from David Bowie.
You can definitely hear Brian Eno's influence on this track. It sounds like U2 will sound 10 years later, working with Eno too.
Somebody once said that if this was the only good song to come out of the Berlin trilogy, it would be worth it. I couldn't agree more. The way each instrument slowly comes in throughout the track and builds this sort of tension is amazing. And when Bowie finally just sings at the top of his lungs and releases all that tension.... This is his best song. Life on Mars is alright, but this song will always be one of the best ever.

Not only a classic Bowie song, but a great song regardless of artist or genre. It is just a superb song. I've heard it covered and delivered in a variety of ways and no matter what they do to it, it still makes that artist sound great. Its such a masterpiece and I love Visconti's account of how Bowie caught him sneaking a kiss with one of the backing singers or production team down at the Berlin Wall where they were recording, to inspire the "and we kissed as though nothing could fall"
Among the greatest songs of all time, Bowie was truly a genius.
Maybe the best song of all thime.
