For ages, even though I heard this years ago, way before hearing "How to Disappear Completely", the latter persisted in being my favourite song. I've always loved Tonight, Tonight and it's without a doubt the song that made me an SP fan, yet for some reason I was never committed to calling it my favourite song.
However, in finally cracking open Mellon Collie, I've fallen back in love with Tonight, Tonight. I have to say now that it is indeed my favourite song ever recorded, and perhaps the greatest. (Edited)

Sweeping and epic. Lovely and delicate. "Time is never time at all / you can never ever leave / without leaving a piece of you". I'm a fan of even-better-than-the-rest-of-the-song endings and this song has it in its particular grand summation. Believe in me...tonight.

The perfect start to an album, a somber intro track into an anthemic orchestrated tune, so cool.
This song is one of these very rare perfect songs
