Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 87.2/100, a mean average of 88.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 88.5/100. The standard deviation for this track is 9.8.

One of the greatest guitar songs I have ever heard. Machine Gun is not only one of the greatest songs ever written but is also one of the greatest performance pieces ever recorded. Jimi takes a protest song and makes it more than just about the lyrics and infuses music and sound effects into his message. There are plenty of great guitar work to be found here as well as plenty of experimentation and feed back. Great solos, machine gun fire and bombs dropping are just a few of the highlights.
Buddy and Billy work very well together and patiently await Jimi's smooth transitions. The shared vocals are great too as Jimi's rough but tender voice lets us know "...he'll pick up his axe and fight like a farmer..." while Buddy's lush and beautiful voice lets us know when "...he was shot down to the ground..." A wonderful performance of an absolutely amazing song. Jimi ends the song by saying he doesn't want us to hear that anymore. He certainly is not talking about the song!
