Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track is rated in the top 22% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 77.8/100, a mean average of 76.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.0/100. The standard deviation for this track is 19.4.

I absolutely love this. It's atmosphere, the composition are first rate and superbly played. An underrated track in my book.

If this song were just the second half of it, it would earn a much higher rating, maybe the best on the album. That magical bridge, highlighted by Banks' swirling synthesizers and capped off by Rutherford's fine guitar, begins the second half, which feels like an awesome callback to the prog days of yore. But the first half is so damn clunky that I can't help but give it a lower rating than I want to. It just doesn't know what song it wants to be for the first three minutes. Opening with a drum machine and a simple piano melody, it seems like Me and Sarah Jane might build into something good. Then when it finally gets there, it immediately shifts tones into this cheesy pop song with a... reggae beat? The hell? Thankfully the bridge comes to the rescue and keeps it from sinking, and it's all smooth sailing from there. What a missed opportunity to be something fantastic.
