The other night, a very important discussion regarding the nature of fruits and applesauce and whatnot was unjustly deleted. I am here to rectify this problem. So is applesauce a fruit? Is vegetable soup in fact a vegetable? Will normal threads ever be as entertaining as threads hijacked by happymeal?

No and no. Apple sauce is not a fruit of its own and vegetable soup is not a vegetable of its own. They are both derivatives of one or more fruits or vegetables.

You have to ask yourself, would I count a sufficient portion of apple sauce or vegetable soup as one of my five fruit and veg a day?The answer is yes and yes.

Whether it counts in the nutritional sense is irrelevant. Under that logic, vitamins would be fruits and vegetables as well. They are not.

Then I'll never eat in front of you, Bong. And I love apple sauce, store bought or not.

Do snobby fancy people have their own way of eating apple sauce? That would be something to see!
