I like the mood, animation, and tone of the series? I think I rated it a 7 or a 8, but I haven't watched it in some time so I couldn't tell you how I felt about the actual narrative or characterization.
Last Exile Genres: Adventure, Science Fiction
Episodes: 26
It's the dawn of the Golden Age of Aviation on planet Prester, and retro-futuristic sky vehicles known as vanships dominate the horizon. Claus Valca, a flyboy born with the right stuff, and his fiery navigator Lavie are fearless racers obsessed with becoming the first sky couriers to cross the Grand Stream in a vanship. But when the high-flying duo encounters a mysterious girl named Alvis, they are thrust into the middle of an endless battle between Anatoray and Disith—two countries systematically destroying each other according to the code of chivalric warfare. Lives will be lost and legacies determined as Claus and Lavie attempt to bring peace to their world by solving the riddle of its chaotic core.
Well, the first week of FAW starts now which I’ll have a rotation come up here and there using other peoples MAL lists (8-10 scores only counting). Anyway, this one is one of my personal favorites that has a lot of flares of steampunk, ace combat, and a whole lot of fun. Airing in 2003, Last Exile was the brainchild of Gonzo studios and Chigira Kouichi who is better known for Full Metal Panic! and Tower of Druaga. This one is pretty visually astounding with a mixture of 2D and 3D animation with at depth backgrounds—the story and characterization is pretty much what draws me in beyond “oooooh pretty” though as the dynamic between Lavie and Claus is pretty wonderful as they travel in this rich universe of only twenty-six episodes length.
Just finished watching Hourou Musuko (Wandering Son in English) and, concerning the underlying theme of transsexuality, it's actually a nice coming-of-age story. Yes, there are flaws with it; like underdeveloped characters and awkward drama here and there, but I enjoyed watching it. Sorta miss watching anime on a regular basis.
Also, that Last Exile anime looks interesting, so I might check it in the future, if I can catch up with other anime I need to backlog. _________________
Yah ping pong was really good, i think i might of liked.
First ever 3DPD anime i have ever liked
I might actually do that, I barely remember anything about that show except the static electricity bit and the episode with Konata's mom now that I think about it. It was a pretty good cute girls show.
Also I just watched Angel's Egg and that was something.
