I actually really enjoyed Todd Terje's It's Album Time. Not only do I enjoy the songs individually, but the album is very well-structured and runs through very smoothly. Top 5 for me. _________________

No. Love that Todd Terje record. Even if you don't dig most of it, I can't imagine anyone not loving that Robert Palmer cover with Ferry. And I actually quite enjoyed Everyday Robots.
I will however agree that Turn Blue and that Alt J record were both steaming turds. And even though I sort of enjoyed it, I'd think that Indie Cindy should have received the most negative votes. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Haha! You're such an unabashed Albarn fanboy. Nice to have u back!
tbh, I've never even been able to make it to that Palmer cover. Just fixed that. Agreed. No surprise though. Ferry makes my knees weak & the retro 80s Pretty-in-Pink prom vibe is awesome. I'll give you that one.
I still have yet to listen to Indie Cindy. I heard the very first ep & now I'm afraid. Very afraid. LOL.
maybe tonight. Please don't crush my soul.

I heard the Terje album twice, I think, and the best adjective I could come up with was "preppy". I thought it was good for what it was trying to do, even if it wasn't quite my thing.
The others didn't seem worth hearing based on what I'd heard said.

I didn't love love it the first few times I heard it, but it was a real grower for me. It certainly doesn't deserve to be categorized alongside Turn Blue. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

I'm not trying to get rid of the negative votes, though, it was interesting seeing which albums were the most controversial ones of this year. Imo when an album is controversial it shows just how great it is because of its ability to elicit strong emotions from the listener, both positive and negative. |
The thing is I think lots of the negative vote were not because people thought the albums were that bad or because of "strong negative emotions" but more because some people didn't want to see those albums win.
I did vote negatively for Benji, Indie Cindy and And then you shoot your cousin because I really think those are the 3 worst albums I heard this year, nothing further than that.
