Haha alright, I'm definitely OK with giving you a few more days if you think you'll be able to battle him within this timeframe. Otherwise I can just start the new one and you'll continue the old one at the same time as it's almost over anyway.
You can try to crush me but I'm probably going to ban ubers so you'll have to say goodbye to Darkrai

Do we need a Moderator of Tournaments to keep track of which tourneys are queued up, which one goes next, keeping a balance of themes, etc.?
Perhaps another Forum section just for Tournaments, separate from Games, would be helpful? Ordinary one-off games don't get posted very often any more.

I agree to both of these. I think people should volunteer to be the Moderator of Tournaments and then either a managerial decision is made or there is a poll. The tournaments are often very unorganised and it'd be good to get some structure set into these.
Additionally, I think the games are often drowned out by the tourneys, and also vice versa. It's nice to see the round grouped together without having a random game in the middle of it. _________________

I'd volunteer to take on a major role in something, if people aren't opposed. I'm still a little fuzzy on what's going on with the Genre Extravaganza but maybe I should just let HappyMeal deal with it and work on something where I have full control. No offense to him but I don't really like having to understand what someone else wants done I guess, also the difficulty of not having access to modify the OP is bothersome.
Throw some suggestions my way and I'll take them into consideration.
I agree that "Tournaments" having their own sub-forum would be a solid idea. _________________

I'm willing to act as the tournament moderator. I suggest the "moderator" do the following:
- Keep track of which tournaments are in the queue and decide which one goes next
- Keep in touch with the tournament organizers to verify timing and intentions
- If a tournament organizer stops maintaining their tournament for an extended period, the moderator is responsible for either continuing it or finding a replacement to run it
- Set restrictions on the size and pace of tournaments based on feedback from the community
- Make sure the rules of a tournament are laid out clearly ahead of time, to minimize bickering later on
I do think tournament organizers should still have a lot of flexibility in how their tournaments are set up, however. I suggest the following things be left up to the "organizers" of individual tournaments:
- Seeding
- Nomination threads, as well as the details of the nomination process
- Tournament size and pace (within the limits set by the moderator)
- Overall tournament design (e.g., Listmeister's "didn't like either" option)
Other suggestions?

I'm happy to start whenever. I suppose we should give people a little more time to check here and respond if they have any objections.
Also, eyezayzay, were you volunteering specifically for this position or just looking for some way to help out?

This job description is precisely what I had in mind. Only thing I'd add is, the person has to have run at least one tournament. Or else, run the first one after he or she gets the job.
Running the B1974 tournament has been fun, but also time consuming. I'd love to do another year-based one, something more recent like 1996 or 2011.

Sounds good, Listmeister! Great job with 1974 tourney. I think sp4cetiger also expressed interest in doing a year tournament. I'd PM him about it. A few us commented earlier in this thread that we should plan another Year tournament. Any year from the 80s, 90s, or early 00s sounds good to me. 1996 would be perfect. I think 2011 is too recent. A lot of terrain already covered fairly recently by a lot of BEAers. I think the year tournaments work best as a journey back in time enabling rediscovery of forgotten faves and new perspectives on old albums .

Does anyone remember what the next album-based tournament was supposed to be? Who's running it, when's it gonna start?
