Christopher Bissonnette - Essays in Idleness

1. "Greenish in Its Light"
2. "A Deplorable Corruption"
3. "Entanglements"
4. "Delusions"
5. "Missing Chapters"
6. "Uniformity Is Undesirable"
7. "Another Moving Site"
8. "Wasting a Little"

Haven't been keeping up with new music very well this year, but I do return to Pinata, Benji, Bohren, and the Kranky releases relatively often. This is the only 2014 Kranky release not in the BEA database, and if you enjoyed the releases from Tara Jane O'Neil, Christina Vantzou, or A Winged Victory for the Sullen, then you'll very likely enjoy this. I actually enjoy that Vantzou album out of all the Kranky releases this year the best, so check that out. Like its title suggests, the album just kind of farts around in liminality for awhile. It's OK to good instrumental production whose primary strength is its relatively short length for an ambient release (40 minutes) and the large amount of movement within each track for an ambient release. It's boring music for bored people. And I like it well enough.

I haven't heard this, but I agree Vantzou's is the best of the other three.

Got around to this and loved it. Really beautiful piece of work, the sweeping soundscapes were great. The first track made me think of Moby's "God Moving Over the Face of the Waters", probably my favorite Moby piece.
