Right so this album is called Mitau by Audrey Fall. Something I found while putting together the Mountain Chart. IF you like Mono, Thee MT Zion whatever it called band or God is an Astronaut. Very heavy and quite literally a storm in under one hour.
Music matches the album cover well. I mean look at the trees on the cover. Those have to at least be 50 feet. So it's in some foreboding land of isolation. No monsters, just the raw sublime criminally minded awesome power of nature ready to crush you. Paints a lovely picture in sound as well as word.
Album also comes from Latvia so for some it will be the first album from Latvia they have heard. There is a very good album from Estonia in my top 10 2014 chart still... this one gets it today.
Don't miss this wonderful album by Audrey Fall

First listen:
Some decent instrumentation in here, and def not a bad album overall, but just has something missing compared to the better examples of the genre. Just seems too middle of the road, I'd like either more dynamics, or intensity, or something else that would make its atmosphere more definable, I dunno. It is heavy at times, but doesn't go too far with it. It's kinda like crescendo-core without any proper crescendos.
Not a bad overall listen, I just don't think I'll give it another try.

Gave this a listen. I have to say, I liked it. It didn't blow me away, but it was enjoyable. It was relatively conventional by post-rock standards, but that doesn't mean it was bad. Big, powerful music, large crescendos, fairly by-the-book post-rock, but still good. _________________ Progressive Rock

This was basically my reaction when I heard it earlier this year. Not a bad record, but not close to being in my year chart either. Just rather colourless, unfortunately. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
