Sorry I'm posting this so late, hopefully everyone takes the time to listen to this, I'm really really interested in everyone's opinions.

Breadwoman & Other Tales by Anna Ho...ve Moshier
Here's my writeup on it:
Quote: | I am completely fascinated by this album. Anna Homler is a performance artist who, back in the 80s, started recorded some songs on a cassette tape of her chanting in some made up language. Now, RVGN Intl. has paired her up with Steve Moshier, and they've recorded those strange chants and put them into an album. What's fascinating to me is how hypnotic these chants can get. They don't actually mean anything, they're all made up words, but somehow they just captivate you. The first five tracks are mostly her chants, but the final two tracks are what I'm most enamored with. "Sirens" is a 12-minute track that consists mostly of Homler clicking and squealing over a synth drone, it's almost ambient-like, but so strange that it never quite fades into the background. The best track, in my opinion, is the closer "Celestial Ash", a 17-minute track in which Homler's chants are looped and delayed so that her voice becomes layers of voices, like a dense fog of voices surrounding and enveloping you. The whole album is completely mesmerizing and fascinating. |
I'm very curious to see how people receive this. It's not the most accessible album, but it's a really rewarding listen, I think. _________________ 2023 Chart

I don't have a lot of time, so I'll try to give more substantial thoughts later, but this has been one of my favorite records of the year so far. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Just wanted to bump this for visibility in case anyone didn't see that I posted it over the weekend (I know I posted late, that's my bad).
I really am interested in everyone's thoughts on it, I found it to be a compelling piece. _________________ 2023 Chart

This definitely piqued my interest, and I'll be checking it out along with Anti's ALC this weekend when I'm back home for spring break.

technically, this break includes the weekdays between Palm Sunday and Holy Saturday, and I will be back at school for Easter Day, so no.
i'm also pretty sure that spring break is determined by the number of weeks into our semester it is. i could be wrong 'cause my school is in a very Catholic city, so we might pin ours to Easter (I've never really checked) but many U.S. universities are out this week (14-18teenth) and thus would not be home (or in Cabo getting shwasty listening to EDM) for Easter.
