Fair enough. I've personally never really been able to get into Styx. I really love a few of their songs (such as Renegade, Blue-Collared Man, Too Much Time on My Hands, etc.), and as I mentioned, I rather enjoy the Grand Illusion album, but overall their sound is rather dull and simple, in my opinion.

Yeah, everything I have said is only opinion, but I was kind of annoyed by typing (in my opinion) every time I made an opinion because I have a tendency to do that (like people don't know this is my opinion). As for Styx being better, I also think their sound is fairly dull and that they aren't great, but I think they shine in comparison to Queen. For example, "We will rock you". That is probably the most dull song I have heard. It's the same drum beat throughout the whole song, same singing, same boring chorus, and boring solo (in my opinion). I think that song sums up queen, repetitive. Now, if you like them, that's a good thing, but I absolutely hate them.

If you think Queen are terrible, your ears are bad, and you should feel bad.

Also, joj wins the internet with "lethalnezzle is a fucking trapezoid" as the best insult ever. Like, I would give him kudos even if he was insulting me with it.

Anyway, News of the World is awesome. I get the issues people have with it, and there are a couple songs on it I have an issue with, but some of Queen's least-known, best songs are on here. "It's Late" has probably at some time or another been my #1 Queen song and there are other great cuts, too.

It's no Opera, or Queen II, or Attack, maybe not even as good as Races or Jazz, but fuck is it ever good.

Also, semi-on topic, some of Queen's later stuff gets too much shit. Hot Space was a fucking travesty, I'll readily admit that, but The Game had some of their best ballads (and basslines) on it. The Works had the occasional good song, A Kind of Magic was semi-godawful, admittedly, but then The Miracle - easily their most underrated album - and Innuendo came out and redeemed them colossally. "Was It All Worth It" on The Miracle is one of Queen's best power ballads, and on Innuendo you're essentially hearing Freddie's last will and testament, which is some powerful shit when you listen to it in that context. Innuendo is just as good as some of their 70's stuff, too, I think people hate it more because they were still in shock from some of the 80's stuff.

I agree on We Will Rock You, but I don't find their music repetitive at all. On A Night at the Opera in particular I've always been really impressed with the way that their songs all have different structures and the way that, even if a song does have a distinct chorus (which many of them don't), all of the choruses sound different, whether with different lyrics or just different instrumentation/harmonies. Verses are the same way, with widely varied dynamics and instrumentation. Now, a common argument against them is that their lyrics are too campy and not very poetic, and that's a fair statement, but I personally think their lyrics really defined their identity as songwriters and added a lot to their already intentionally overblown sound.

Just my opinion, of course.

You, sir, could not be more correct. I will say that I rather enjoy Hot Space, but I can certainly recognize that it's God awful, lol. The Game is another excellent album. Sort of their Thriller before Thriller even came out, with every song being single-worthy. As for A Kind of Magic, yeah, only a couple good ones on that one, but hell, One Vision is one of my favorite songs of all time. I agree that The Miracle is extremely underrated. I mean, Was It All Worth It. C'mon people. That song is the shit. And Innuendo is an incredible swan song. A few songs (Headlong and Hitman in particular) could've been left off, but the title track, I'm Going Slightly Mad, These Are the Days of Our Lives, Bijou, and The Show Must Go On (this one in particular) should give anybody goosebumps, especially when considering Freddie's subsequent untimely death.

I play some songs from Hot Space at my parties. And I throw kick-ass parties, let me tell you.
