Anatomy of a chart feed
Each chart feed comprises of a single channel element and one or more item elements.
Channel
- Title - the title of the RSS feed.
- Link - a link to the relevant page on BestEverAlbums.com (e.g. RSS feeds for member charts link to the relevant member chart on BestEverAlbums.com; the overall chart will link to the overall chart page, year/decade charts to the relevant year/decade page etc).
- Description - a longer description of this RSS feed.
- TTL - number of minutes the feed can be cached on the calling website (no need to refresh this feed more times than this as the data is unlikely to change. Data should be cached on the calling website in-between calls).
Following the 'channel' section. there are one or more 'item' sections in every chart feed. Each 'item' represents an individual rank within a chart.
Item
- Title - will always be a name of an album or track and its rank within the chart. The feed will always be in the correct sequence (the top-ranked item will be at the beginning of the feed).
- Link - URL to the relevant album page on BestEverAlbums.com
- Guid - Every time a chart is (re-)published, a unique identifier will be assigned to each entry within the chart.
- Description - this is a HTML formatted representation of an item, but you may choose to ignore this.
