Self-recording makes you see all the imperfections.

The good thing about all of this is that it can be demos, lyrics or just ideas. Makes it slightly easier.

I went to sign up on the website, then when it asked me for my gender and the options said "dude" or babe," I wasn't so sure anymore.

I tried to record some original stuff, but my mic wasn't up to the job. So I've taken the project in another direction and started making sample-based music collages. Here's the first one:

I won't have anything done by the end of the month, but I have started the process of finally starting my second album. Here's the plan:

I'm going to record a 12 song album. 5 of the songs will be ones that I have already written but never recorded. 5 songs will be brand new ones that I will write specifically for the album. And 2 will be songs by people I know whose music I admire, and who have been helpful to me on my musical path. One of those people I haven't worked with or seen for years, the other is someone I still play shows with today, and am in the process of recording harmony vocals for his new album.

The obvious premise for the album is past and present.

Right now, I'm working on getting musicians together for the band that will play on it and support it live, as well as securing studio time and an engineer (most likely my bass player) and planning songwriting sessions. It's been a while since I've been at it, but I'm hoping this all goes smoothly, and I hope to have it done by the end of 2013.

And I hope it's just as good or better than the last one!

I think I missed the boat on this one, but my band has been recording some demos lately. They're shitty audio quality since we're only using home equipment, but we're at the we just want to get this out there in some capacity stage. One we finish the demo tracks I'll probably post a link.

I've decided 14 songs is way too ambitious. But I've already got 7 knocking around, so I might just make something aside from FAWM in the near future.

My band is writing a concept album based on this book: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_and_Again_%28novel%29

From the way it's looking though, it'll only be ten songs on the album.

I'm all ready to release my album already 😁

It is called Billy Bob Jones, and it will be released Monday, February 18.

It's a concept album about rockism, and objectivity in music 😜
