HMV was the only music store where I live, now that it's gone, there is nowhere to buy music, also I'm effectively poor and struggling to pay my way through Uni, should I be denied access to music because of this? I still own plenty of physical albums, but nowadays it's impossible to get my hands on them.

Our HMV is closing done with a clearance on at the moment. I went it to see if anything was worth getting - even on sale everything is ridiculously overpriced. I saw Help! by The Beatles in there for £15 - that's about $22.
This was before the sale, but even then there wasn't a sale sticker on it, so maximum it was off 20%. Even so, how can they expect anyone to pay that sum for an album that's 50 years old and doesn't even hold 35 minutes of content? That's why the went bust. It's sad, but they deserve it.

True, prices are ridiculous nowadays, there used to be a second hand store where I got some serious finds, 2 euro per album, I once got Nevermind, Velvet Underground's Loaded, (What's The Story) Morning Glory and 2 Clash albums (London Calling, Combat Rock) for a tenner, not to mention all the other second hand stuff I got there, pity it's long gone now.
Btw, out HMV didn't even have a closing down sale, all the stock is still in there...

I purchase used CDs if they're around $1. It's mostly more well-known artists, but every once in awhile a gem shows up.

You can also own an album if you write all the songs.

I think it varies from person to person. I personally don't think it counts unless you have a physical copy of the disc, and if you only have a digital copy, then it should at the very least be one you either paid for or got as a gift. As for people who download tens of thousands of songs for free, I don't really care, but I don't think they can really brag about the sizes of their collections if they do that, lol.
