I love it, it was on my early chart. I've found plenty of better albums since, but this one is always a great listen.

I think the genius of this album lies with the fact on surface level it appears to be very simple, but if you listen carefully the production, progression and layering are all very complex. I think James Murphy has a fantastic way with words which allows him to say an awful lot in very few words, they're personal, heartfelt and relatable. Overall I'd say it is their best album in terms of consistency, but their best songs (DPIPAMH, Drunk Girls, Yeah) are to be found elsewhere in their discography.

Really good album, Someone Great, All My Friends and North American Scum are probably my favourite tracks. I still prefer their debut however, Losing My Edge is just amazing.

I love Get Innocuous one of my favourite songs atm, don't really bother listening to the rest though these days.

I guess I'm always confused by any criticism this album gets. To me it comes across as so extremely likeable and even affable that no matter how hard I try I couldn't possibly do any anything but adore it. And that's largely thanks to Murphy's personality that shines through all the songs. Even though most of the songs could come across as a bitter commentary on something (or more often the lack of something (a loved one who's not in your life anymore, genuine friends etc) he still has this amazingly lovable presence that makes all of his 21st century pain relateable. These days I find myself spinning the album that came after this much more often (and I think it's a much better album too) but this album is still so powerful and it's incredible influence on music this decade can not be understated.

Key Tracks:
Get Innocuous!
Someone Great
All My Friends
Us Vs Them
Sound Of Silver
New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down

^ a note about that last song: it always breaks my heart now because I think about the end of the madison square garden show
