I honestly love Weird Al. Sure, there are a fair amount of his songs that are pretty stupid, but he's got some really clever ones.

I've gotta say, I think "I Lost On Jeopardy" is great, and his polka arrangements are pretty impressive.

I've always been more partial to Genius in France for his originals. That said Al did force a lot of his parodies post-90s and I honestly think he has enough staying power to release more original material. But that's just me.

I really need to learn French. American public schools do a terrible job teaching foreign language

My school only had Spanish and a very badly constructed 8th grade German elective. Never had the interest for the former and I've forgotten most of the latter.

Genius In France is awesome too. And off the same album, I've always kind of liked Party At The Leper Colony.

I agree with the sentiment that Al's originals are much better than his direct parodies. Songs like Albuquerque and Genius in France are actually incredibly well-composed songs, and style parodies like Skipper Dan and Happy Birthday are much better than some of his awfully forced direct parodies.

Here I thought I'd have to defend Taylor Swift. Didn't realize that The Weird One was on the crap list.

Good thing I didn't list Gordon Lightfoot.

Hey now, Gordon Lightfoot is a king among kings!!

that said, there's really no reason to separate other than to prove that someone likes hip hop.

Best part here is that I don't particularly like hip hop.

You make a good point, words are words are words when it comes down to it. I just see it to a different goal. I see a rap, a lyric, and a poem all as different things. Maybe just me, but that's why I separated mine how I did.

I know, right? Just don't put him in the same category as The Almighty Bob.
